Commonwealth Bank offers free security software
Friday November 16, 2007
The Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) has partnered with security software company Computer Associates (CA) to provide NetBank customers with access to free security software to help customers improve their online security.
'Which Bank' will hand out CA Internet Security Suite Plus 2008, which is valued at $69.95 to the first 25,000 customers who register in Netbank. CBA customers will be able to either download the online security product either online over the internet or can receive a CD.
Ross McEwan, Group Executive, Retail Banking Services said in a statement that the Commonwealth Bank was committed to ensuring their customers have access to the best online security systems and precautions possible, and that their personal details and finances are safe when transacting online.
"We are the only Australian bank to offer our customers access to 25,000 free PC software bundles and for our NetBank customers who miss out, we will be offering the product for $34.95 which is a discount of almost 50 per cent."
"This is by far the best offer in the market. CA's internet security provides a strong line of defense against the latest online threats including identity theft, viruses, spyware, spam, and phishing."
"Anti Virus software on home personal computers is just one additional security barrier that can provide assurance for customers when banking or transacting online, or generally surfing the web."
"In the past twelve months, NetCode SMS and Tokens, delayed third party payments, BPAY and third party limit changes and an improved Hawk-I fraud detection system have delivered improved levels of security for our customers' private information and finances,"
CA Internet Security Suite Plus 2008 includes:
- Anti-Virus - protects against viruses, worms and Trojan horse programs
- Anti-Spyware - protects against a wide range of spyware threats
- Personal Firewall - stops intruders, blocks malicious programs, and helps protect your personal information
- Anti-Spam - makes sure you get messages from people you know, while redirecting messages from people you don't
- Anti-Phishing - protects you from phishing attacks, Internet fraud attempts, and malicious websites
- Parental Controls - allows you to control and manage Internet access for the whole family
- Data Backup and Transfer - helps you backup and restore your important personal data and PC settings, or transfer them to a new PC
The CBA isn't the first bank to offer online security software to their customers with the National Australia Bank already offering their customers Spyware Doctor and ZoneAlarm Security Suite at a reduced price.
