Australian dollar steadies rate rise tipped for Feb

The Australian Dollar (AUD) recovered slightly in morning trade to be at USD$0.8591/96, down from yesterday's closing rate of USD$0.8609/13.

The AUD had traded between a low of USD$0.8567 and a high of USD$0.8601 during the morning.

In other finance news, the Reserve Bank of Australia released the minutes of it's December Board Meeting which all but confirmed an official interest rate rise in the new year for those with a home loan.

The board meeting minutes said, "That higher interest rates were likely to be required,''
