A Wall Street recovery late in the day has seen Australian shares gain ground in morning trade.
Australia's major banks led the recovery with the National Australia Bank. Australia & New Zealand Banking Group, the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and the Westpac Banking shares all increasing in value.
