No interest from Australian banks in cheque deposit technology
Tuesday February 19, 2008
Australia banks have turned their back on new overseas technology that allows consumers to deposit cheques into their bank account from home or work.
All the major Australian banks have said they won't be using the new technology for a variety of reasons, which include, compromising customer security and the lack of cheques being used in society today.
However, all banks did say they would continually be on the lookout for advanced technologies that would enhance the customers banking experience.
Australian's have a different bill payment culture than American's who still write a lot of cheques while we have moved on to electronic banking in a big way with Bpay and credit card payments.
