Jillian Broadbent seeks third RBA term
With a desire to assist the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) during changing times, Jillian Broadbent has said that she would be 'honoured' to serve a third term as a board member with the RBA.
In December last year, the Rudd government announced as part of its dedication to opening the RBA to more independent operations that board appointees would be drawn from a register of high integrity candidates.
If Broadbent's term - which finishes on May 6 this year - were to be renewed, it is highly unlikely that another position would become open until December 2010. The Australian banking and finance scene would therefore be unlikely to change much in attitude for the foreseeable future, leaving the current board members to deal with the impact on Australia of the many recent global economic events.
