Get into property investment with interest only home loans

16 April 2008

Banks offer a wide range of home loan options, but the interest only loan is one of the better options for people who wish to buy investment properties.

The way interest only home loans function is that for the duration of the loan, you only repay the interest that accumulates on the principal, but none of the principal itself. Obviously this is an emergency measure if you use it to refinance your own home property as you will build no equity and be no nearer to owning your home. For the property investor, however, the interest only loan allows for lower monthly repayments while a property is developed and then sold, meaning it's easier to maintain the investment.
