Are you with the best superannuation fund?

4 April 2008

Superannuation funds receive so much support from the government that they are a very attractive investment for your retirement. Incentives in Australia, such as extra money being paid when you contribute extra money to your superannuation fund, mean that while there still may remain some risk of minor losses in bad years, overall you are more likely to make significant gains in your super fund than you are with many other forms of investment.

Just because it's fairly easy to increase your super amount does not mean you should take a laid back approach to it when a little effort could see you with more. You may find that the superannuation fund you are with now charges more in fees than you may necessarily need to pay. Shopping around for a cheaper super could mean a big difference in how comfortably you will retire. Remember, reasonable amounts of money now could be much larger by the time you retire as long as you remain vigilant about what is happening to your super.
