Banks and foreign exchange
Thursday June 12, 2008
Banks will often provide the best value for foreign exchange when travelling overseas. Often banks will offer decent foreign exchange rates to make customers happy, but they will also usually take a commission. Bureaus de change, on the other hand, will generally choose between charging a commission or else they will offer less favourable exchange rates. If you are unsure of how the exchange rates will affect the cost of your changing money, then you may be more comfortable dealing with commission based money changers.
