Banks offer insurance to cover almost any form of loss, and unfortunately many people in times of financial stress will drop insurance coverage before moderating other expenses in their budgeting. It seems that insurance is often seen as a status symbol rather than a protection, that being able to afford it is an achievement rather than a necessity. This is not the case, as those struggling with their budget currently are the most likely to need insurance in case of disaster.
