Getting the best from banks

23 July 2008

Banks are not just a large institution willing to store your money. They are a business as well. By treating banks as a business, you will realise that they are open to negotiation. This can lead to better interest rates, better service and more money in your accounts.

If you are in a good bargaining position, the banks will be more receptive to negotiation. For instance, if a bank that competes with your bank is at the height of a promotional campaign for savings accounts, your bank will probably be willing to offer competitive deals in order to prevent existing customers from switching.
