Why are the banks rejecting me?

24 July 2008

Banks, especially in the current financial climate, can be very strict about who they will lend money to. While personal loans and home loans are very popular financial products, it is important for banks to restrict the availability of money to those who can afford to repay.

If you have been rejected by the banks when applying for home loans or personal loans, you may be wondering why they have done this. There could be several reasons, but you will need to identify which one if you are to have a chance of getting the banks to approve you.

In case you have yet to do so, apply for a copy of your credit rating so that you may address any forgotten debts from your past. You may believe you have a perfect memory, but it is quite likely that you may have forgotten several minor debts that are having an impact on your credit rating now.

Look at your overall financial situation, and make a realistic decision about whether you can afford the loan you want. If you are unsure of your ability to pay off a loan, consult a professional financial advisor for advice specific to your situation.
