First Home Buyers Grant
With the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) the Australian government announced that the States and Territories would assist first home buyers through the establishment of the First Home Owner Grant (FHOG).
From 1 July 2000 those eligible, are now entitled to a one time $7000 payment from their state government to help with the purchase of their first home.
First home buyers grant conditions vary from state to state so please check your eligibility through the Tools section of our web site.
For example, the Victorian Government not only has a first home owners scheme worth $7000 but also has a First Home Buyers Grant Bonus of $5000 available for those who build a new home and move into it within 12 months.
In New South Wales and Queensland there is no 'Bonus' on offer.
