Chattels
Chattels are movable personal properties such as clothes, furniture, and appliances, as opposed to permanent fixtures like homes and buildings. Specifically, they refer to items that you can either include in the sale of your home or take with you when you move. Furniture is the most common chattel considered in property sales, as they can greatly add to the value of a home. Loans taken to purchase a chattel are called "chattel mortgages." The word is derived from "cattle," which is one of the first personal properties considered valuable by man.
